Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a man injured in Brooklyn Wednesday morning.
The incident happened at Remsen and Ralph avenues at East Flatbush around 11 a.m.
The NYPD gave the following statement to YWN:
At approximately 10:52AM, NYPD Officers from the 67th Precinct in Brooklyn responded to several 911 calls for a male with a firearm and a knife in front of a Laundromat located at 842 Remsen Avenue.
Upon arriving at the location the officers encountered a 23-year-old male identified as Davonte Pressley, armed with a knife in front of the Laundromat.
The officers repeatedly ordered the armed male to drop the knife at which time the male lunged towards the officers with a knife still in his hand.
One officer discharged his service weapon striking the male 3 times in the torso. EMS responded to the scene and transported the male to Brookdale Hospital where he is in critical condition.
A knife has been recovered at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
