Health Minister Yaakov Litzman on the first day of chol hamoed Sukkos in Israel visited attack victim Rav Mendel Deitsch, 63, who is recuperating from surgery in Tel Hashomer Hospital.

The rav was assaulted and left for dead in the Ukraine earlier this month. He was treated initially in a local hospital, and then arrangements were set into place to fly him back to Israel, and he has since undergone neurosurgery for his extensive head injuries.

Family members are reporting their father’s condition is quite serious. He is still in a medically induced coma and on assisted breathing, calling on the tzibur to be mispallel for Mendel Mordechai ben Miriam bsoch kol cholei yisrael.
