On Thursday, 11 Tishrei, at the Beit Canada Absorption Center in Ashdod, 36 new immigrant physicians will attend a ceremony marking the official beginning of their certification process in Israel. The program is arranged by a number of agencies including the Ministry of Health, Jewish Agency for Israel, Assuta Hospital, and Education Ministry. This is the eighth such class, which seeks to expedite the process for the olim physicians who must become certified in Israel to practice.
The doctors are from the FSU and they are beginning the 14-month program which includes intensive medical Hebrew, as well as preparing them for their medical boards to become licensed by the Ministry of Health.
