In this second video, taken from another angle, we see police closing in on and firing at the terrorist vehicle in the Sheik Jarah area of the eastern capital. It is now reported the woman in her 60s who was critically wounded in the attack, the first victim, was standing at the Ammunition Hill Jerusalem light rail station. It is also confirmed that one of the Yassam police was critically wounded by terrorist gunfire. It now appears there is a total of eight wounded by gunfire and this number may change as well.
Police are working quickly, having sealed down areas where the shooting occurred and indicate they will not be reopened to the public until new security measures are in place. It now appears the terrorists, a 39-year-old Jerusalem resident, acted alone. Unconfirmed but reliable reports state the terrorist was employed in a Rami Levi supermarket in the Givat Shaul area of the capital.
Light rail operator, CityPass announced that in line with police directive, the light rail for the time being will operate from Har Herzl to Shar Shechem and then once again from Pisgat Ze’ev to Givat HaMivtar.
Police have requested and obtained a gag order on the investigation into the attack, which is likely to result in radical changes in security preparations ahead of Yom Kippur and Sukkos.
Hadassah has launched an information number for people seeking information about the wounded. The number is 12-55-121.
