MK (Shas) Yaakov Margi, who chairs the Knesset Education Committee, remains determined to bring an end to discrimination against Sephardi girls in frum high schools once and for all.
During a committee session that was held on Wednesday, 3 Tishrei, the head of the Chareidi Education Unit, Itzik Zahavi, reported to the committee which Ashkenazi schools continue to refuse to accept Sephardi students even after the ministry cut their funding. Margi feels the time has come to get tough and he is willing to dismiss principals who refuse to comply with state law and ministry directives. He vows to continue his tenacious battle until such time the
The ministry has already informed a number of schools, including Darchei Rachel (Mendelson), Netivot Chachma (Modi’in Illit), Bnos HaRama (Beit Shemesh), Ateret Rachel (Tiveria) And Einhorn that failure to comply with ministry directives would result in a harsh response, including cutting school funding.

My daughter is in the Snif (Mendelsohn) and there are so many sephardi girls in her class and in the school in general. I am not sure why everyone is always down Mendelsohn’s throat for not accepting sephardim.
So many Sephardi girls! Let’s be honest there are far more religious Sephardi than Ashkenazim. So your threshold may be lower than mine and certainly lower than the girl who is being rejected. The schools must change and fast. Zero tolerance for discrimination.
Finally a true advocate!
People who spend their days and nights learning the Rambam, the Ramban, and the Shulchan Oruch, and especially those who daven Nusach Sefard based on the Ari, in addition to spending countless Shabbos hours on Ohr Hachaim, openly disdain their very descendants. How wise, how mentschlich…..and how Jewish.
I am waiting for someone to counter this with “the Ari was an Ashkenazi”….
