Baruch Dayan Emmes: Rebitzen Tova Bakshi-Doron A’H – At The Age Of 108


bdRebbitzen Tova Bakshi-Doron A”H was niftar in Shaare Zedek Medical Center at the age of 108. She was the mother of Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron Shlita.

The nifteres moved to Israel at the age of 30 from Syria where she was raised. Her husband, Rav Bentzion Bakshi-Doron ZT”L, was among the leading authorities of Sephardi Jewry and gabbai of the Rav Yochanan Ben Zakai Shul in Jerusalem’s Old City.

In recent years, she was living in the Rechavia area of Jerusalem. the levaya was held on motzei Shabbos.

  1. If she was 108 at her petira and emigrated from Syria at 30 years of age, that means that she left Syria 78 years ago, which is the early 1930s. The State of Israel was declared close to two decades later, in 1948.

    So, at age 30, she immigrated to then-Palestine, not to Israel.
