In an operation involving police and the southern district prosecutor, seven illegal gas stations operating in the Negev district have been shut down. The stations operated in the Bedouin municipality of Rahat. Officials report the stations were opened on state land and they did not comply with safety regulations and therefore posed a threat to the public.

A number of makeshift buildings were dismantled and thousands of liters of diesel fuel confiscated along with pumps and other equipment.
