IDF Southern District Commander Major-General Eyal Zamir, who is responsible for the Gaza front, reports Hamas is preparing for the next round of warfare with Israel. As Zamir and others before him have pointed out, Hamas is not using the hiatus in warfare with Israel to rebuild Gaza, but rather the terrorist regime is focusing time, money and energies on rebuilding and strengthening its fighting abilities to use in the next round of warfare.
Zamir explains Israel is doing its best to avoid inflaming the situation but that does not mean it will ignore shots fired over the border. He explains there would be a reaction to any such event.
It has been over a decade since the State of Israel implemented Ariel Sharon so-called “Disengagement Plan”, the expulsion of all Jews from Gaza. Since that time, there have been three rounds of fighting with Hamas. Zamir points out that speaking from a relative point of view, the past two years have been the quietest since the expulsion. The senior commander adds that the IDF remains committed to protecting the citizens of Israel.
