West Virginia AG Subpoenas Mylan Over EpiPen Price Hike

epiWest Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has subpoenaed drug company Mylan N.V. in an investigation over drastic price hikes for its EpiPen.

Morrisey announced Tuesday that he filed a Kanawha County Circuit Court petition to force Mylan to produce documents from a subpoena from several weeks ago.

Morrisey’s office is seeking evidence of possible state antitrust and Medicaid rebate violations through the subpoena.

The allergy pen prices have grown to $608 for a two-pack, an increase of more than 500 percent since 2007. The company has announced it will launch a generic version that costs $300.

Mylan CEO Heather Bresch and a Food and Drug Administration official will testify before the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Wednesday.

Bresch is the daughter of Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia.

  1. I’m quite surprise that a State Attorney General should subpoena a private company who invest much time, money and uncertainity. Perhaps, the talent, the learning institutions and capabilities of West Virginia, need quite a review and overhaul of their standards in medical research, academic standards and
    legal profession as well.

    A goy, Gerry Mullen
