Maybe the Israeli authorities should consider sealing this gate which often attracts attention seekers intent on harming innocent people. There is precedent for sealing the gates; the Muslims sealed the Golden Gate [Sha’ar HaRahamim] during the rule of Suleiman when they found out that according to Jewish tradition, Moshiach tzidkeinu will enter Yerushalayim through this gate, bekorov mamash. The Muslims will only have themselves to blame for the inconvenience. An alternative gate for them to use would be Herod’s Gate not far away.
