Israel’s Channel 1 News reported that PA (Palestinian Authority) leader Abu Mazen was a KGB agent back in the 1980s. the PA’s official response is that the report is untrue and slanderous as well as yet another Israeli effort to discredit the PA leader.
According to the information obtained, Abu Mazen’s code name was “Krotov” (Mole) and this occurred in 1983 while the PA leader was in Damascus. According to information on the PA leader, he was studying for his doctorate in Damascus at the time, a doctorate that focuses on denying the Holocaust.
When asked to comment on the report, former Shin Bet Director (1988-1995) MK (Yesh Atid) Yaakov Peri explained to Kol Chai Radio Thursday morning 5 Elul “Yes, there were rumors back in the day but they remained in the realm of rumors for us, nothing more”. Some experts explain that even if the report is accurate, Peri is not permitted to confirm this since it is not public information.
As far as the PA is concerned, the report is clearly more Israeli propaganda to discredit the 81-year-old PA leader.

I have no idea whether Abu Mazan was ever a KGB agent, but I am sure that his code name would not have been “mole.” That word would attract too much attention in any intercepted communications between the KGB and its alleged spy.
Oh, and one more thing: Yeah, that’s what makes Mamoud Abbas a bad guy – that he was a spy for the KGB.
Maybe Dopie Donnie can check with his pal Vladimir Putin, who was head of the KGB back in the 80’s, and confirm whether or not Mr. Abbas was really a spy. And if he was, and Donnie becomes president, he can tell his pal Vladi to give Mamoud a spanking.
