Chachmas Lev Dispute In The Eida Leads To Violence

shteThe dispute in the Eida surrounding Yeshivas Chachmas Lev, the school that allegedly accepted funding from the Zionists, has moved up a notch, now turning violent.

On Tuesday, 3 Elul, a person affiliated with the ‘Kanoim’ was assaulted by thugs allegedly hired by persons affiliated with the yeshiva. He required medical attention for non-serious head injuries.

There has been a split in the Eida for some time, with the more traditional element following Gavaad Eida Chareidis HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita while a more extremist element seems to follow Eida Chareidis Ravaad HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita. The two poskim have been at different sides of a machlokes involving construction in Beit Shemesh and other issues as well, issues that seem to have split the younger population of the community into two factions.

Regarding the yeshiva, some are calling for ousting the principal while others stand behind him after he explained he did not have any involvement in accepting state funds but this was the decision and actions of others.

  1. Yeh, well like what else is new!

Throw the Eida out of Yiddishkite together with the Open Orthodoxy.
They are both radical sects that are an embarrassment to Judaism each just in opposite extremes.

  2. Both of them are criminally insane savages who hate the country that they live in and the country that protects them and supports them

  3. To No. 2

Do you believe both Weiss and Sternbuch “are criminally insane savages”?? A bit of excess hyperbole and disrespectful since Sternbuch has some followers who consider him a big tzadik and talmid chacham.

  4. and we all wonder why so many boys go off the derech when they see whats happening in the Torah World. Its a shame and disgrace how this machloyke is burning out of control for months. They fighting over a Girls school and is this what you teach your students?
    I am proud to be a Jew……

  5. I’m sorry to say that all you commentators remind me of the days of Mordechai HaTzadik. You come out against Gedolim as if you are wiser then they. None of you have finished Shas B’iyun (and most likely b’Bikeus as well) because you find it too hard or are not interested in Hashem’s wisdom (which Chazal expound upon) enough to succeed in Torah learning. Yet you all feel big enough to come out and judge Gedolim as if your par with them.

When I was a bachur and Rav Shach, z”l came out against the Lubavitcher Rebbe, z”l we turned to our Rebbe (who was one of the Gedolim) and asked him how to view the situation. His response was, “Machloket Gadolim!!! Don’t get involved!!!”

Unless you know the ins and outs of ALL aspects concerning this issues and all things leading up to this the best thing to do is say, “I don’t understand this machlokes and hope it ends up ok.”
