Egged Picks Up The Slack To Return Soldiers To Bases In Light Of Railway Strike

1Egged on Sunday morning announced it was adding buses to compensate for the Israel Railways strike on the Haifa – Tel Aviv line. The strike on this major line, on a Sunday morning, resulted in thousands of IDF soldiers trying to figure out a way to get back to their base.

Shortly after 10:00AM on Sunday, Egged spokesman Ron Ratner released a statement to the media that not a single soldier was left waiting for a bus anywhere in Israel, boasting that Egged was notified and implemented a contingency plan to assist soldiers and civilians alike during the Sunday morning rush hour. Ratner stated 140 buses were placed into service in total with 70 on the Tel Aviv-Haifa line, reporting a 600% increase in ridership on that line Sunday morning.
