Prominent Sephardi posek HaGaon HaRav Bentzion Mutzafi Shlita has spoken out harshly against groups arranged for women to fly to Uman and other area kivrei tzaddikim.
One of the rav’s talmidim asked him about such a trip, asking about the tznius aspect of women traveling to the Ukraine on such a trip.
Rabbi Mutzafi is quoted saying “Pritzus and insanity. We lost all proportions. Aren’t there enough rumors regarding disasters day to day Hashem save us”.
Rav Mutzafi was then asked about a rabbanit who organizes communal ‘taking challah’ events, one who frequently instructs parents to add a name to their children. The talmid explains his daughter attended such an event and was told to add a name.
The rav responded harshly, discarding the legitimacy of such a rebitzen, adding for her and others like her, it is all about money, nothing more.

i just came about a sif in shulchan aruch that talks about sending a shliach to bes din to submit your taanos in a din torah and the mechaber says …

With all due respect, we note that he said nothing about women going to the tsion of Rashb”i etc, nothing about women’s groups to vacations in Europe etc where the chance of pritzuth etc is even greater.
So while in ANY trip it is very important to be cautious regarding pritzut mixing, & so on, we cannot permit ourselves to be biased.
He is known for being anti-Chasidut, anti-Rab Nachman etc. He has spoken out against several groups of kosher Jews that his own Rav & Teacher Chakham Ben-Tsion Aba Shaul spoke in favor of. So this is to be taken in consideration regarding his comments.
I don’t see why women can’t go and get some chizuk if that’s what they need?
For her it is about money, and for him?
If it’s such a “great mitzva” to go, why should the women be left out of this “great mitva” to abandon one’s family on yom tov.
Actually it’s probably a case of Aveira gorerres aveira.
The article leaves out the logic or rationale used by the Rav to reach the conclusion that a group of women flying together to Uman to daven at kivrei tzadikim would somehow constitute “pritzus and insanity”. Assuming they are dressed tziniusdik and don’t engage in the types of activities we read about here every year around rosh hashana from the Nachman groupies who fly to Uman, what is the inyan of Pritzus? Women may clearly daven at kivrei tzadikim in New York or Ey…..why is going to Uman somwhow assur?
