Authorities have released the body of the terrorist responsible for the March 2016 shooting attack against a bus in the Ramot area of the capital for burial. Salah a-Din Street in the eastern capital was closed for a period of time on Wednesday night the eve of 14 Menachem Av to accommodate the burial of the terrorist.

As per the conditions of release, only about 20 people were permitted to attend a quiet funeral service to prevent the funeral from becoming a rally supporting terrorism and turning the terrorist into a Shahid.

‏The terrorist opened fire at a 32A bus on Golda Meir Blvd. in Ramot on March 9, 2016, then fleeing the area. the terrorist was spotted near Shar Shechem and he was killed. The body has remained in Israeli custody since.

It is added that while the body was handed over, it was done over the strong objections of Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who opposes the return of bodies for burial.
