Four Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Beit Shemesh Violence

mishIn a sweeping operation in Beit Shemesh, police arrested four people suspected of taking part in disturbances and violence including assaulting police and city inspectors of late.

There were two incidents in the past two weeks, one in which a city vehicle was attacked with rocks in Ramat Beit Shemesh. Windows of the vehicle were smashed and the vehicle was heavily damaged as it was flipped over. Police have been investigating towards identifying the responsible people, leading to the arrests.

The second case occurred on Monday, 11 Menachem Av when detectives and border police arrived in the area. A crowd began gathering around their vehicle when they decided the occupants were law enforcement officials. Some of the unruly residents blocked the police vehicle and when they got out, the began to shout obscenities at police while trying to attack them.

One policeman was injured in his face and two people were arrested at that event.

Two others were arrested during the night as police were armed with arrest warrants. One will face charges of allegedly taking part in an incident in which a police vehicle was overturned and the second for alleged participation in violent protests. Police recovered pashkavilim against IDF service in one of their homes along with spray paint cans.

The two arrested during the night were arraigned on Tuesday, 12 Menachem Av.

Police confirm the arrests, adding they will continue with a firm law enforcement policy against anyone who feels they have the right to break the law and/or attack police.

  1. Its incredible that the police and security forces tolerate such abusive and violent behavior by a small segment of the Chareidi tzibur, sometimes under orders from supervisors to “go easy” on these thugs because of possible political repercussions of a crackdown. They should be treated as terrorists which is exactly what they are. In the extreme, blowing up the homes of their families should be an option for multiple offenses because it seems nothing else stops these seemingly endless bouts of violence which again is caused by a very small percentage of Chareidim.

  2. Might Gadolhadoroh learn from the USA model where police have become thugs and totally alienated themselves from the populace? Perhaps google “Milwaukee” for the results of such behavior…

  3. The incidence of police misconduct is de minimus percentage of incidents and in Milwaukee, the victim had multiple felony convictions and had a weapon in his hand at the time of the shooting. Stop blaming the police for actions resulting from the violent behavior of others, whether in the US or EY. If you support the violent attacks on women accused of “dressing immodestly”, chayalim wearing their IDF uniforms walking through chareidi neighborhoods, goiyeshe tourists driving on Shabbos, kollel yungerleit simply being associated with the wrong chassidus or police attempting to enforce legal court orders, than I question why you even bother to live in civil society.
