Gavaad Eida Chareidis HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita in recent days visited a number of askanim. He met with one askan who remains in Israel because a beis din has barred him from leaving, holding him responsible for his son not giving his daughter-in-law a get. The Gavaad is raising money to establish schools for the children of new immigrants who arrived from France, working to keep them out of state schools. YWN recently reported that HaGaon HaRav Dovid Feinstein, the Satmar Rebbe of Williamsburg [HaGaon HaRav Zalman Leib Teitlebaum], HaGaon HaRav Malkiel Kotler and HaGaon HaRav Aharon Feldman visited several well-known Canadian philanthropists in a joint effort to raise money so that chareidi schools in Israel will be able to absorb the influx of young immigrants from France.
The askan reportedly told Rav Weiss that he wished to visit him and receive his bracha during the past months but was unable to do so due to his declining health. The man attacked the Chief Rabbinate of Israel batei din for preventing his return to the USA, insisting he has absolutely no influence on the actions of his son, who he adds left the path of chassidus a long time ago.
He reportedly showed Rav Weiss letters from a number of gedolei yisrael who he asked to assist in persuading his son to give his daughter-in-law a bill of divorce. He insists he is not part of the problem, but has been working to free his daughter-in-law.
The Gavaad reportedly gave him a bracha for good health and hatzlacha.
