New Jersey officials don’t want a new bus terminal in New York City to make the commute any worse.
Twenty state and federal officials on Thursday wrote a letter in which they pressed for building a new terminal near the current Port Authority Bus Terminal on the west side of Manhattan.
Several officials in New York support a smaller terminal away from midtown Manhattan. They’re raising environmental and health concerns and are worried the agency would be forced to take properties through eminent domain.
New Jersey officials say building the new bus terminal on Manhattan’s west side will continue to provide one-seat service for the 110,000 weekday commuters who travel in and out of the terminal daily.
The project is still in the design stage.
