After the salmonella in Telma breakfast cereal products, another outbreak involving salmonella is reported in Shamir salad products containing tehina, which the source of the bacterial infection originating in the Tehina HaNasich Company in northern Israel. The salmonella was found in the tubes of one of the production lines of the brand names reported earlier.
According to a Globes report, the notification of the infection from the tehina producer reached companies at 19:30 on Wednesday, 6 Menachem Av, and the media learned about it Thursday.
A recall was late, on Thursday, but Health Ministry officials were informed and reportedly the response is aggressive following accusation of a cover-up pertaining to the Telma cereal contamination. It is noteworthy to add that the infected products were still found on supermarket shelves on Thursday morning. It is alleged that Shamir continued to distribute the infected salads after it became aware and should have halted deliveries. This is likely to be probed by Health Ministry inspectors who are looking into the case.
The recall includes the following:
· All humos marked under the label Shufersal, Yesh, Asli, HaMutag (Rami Levi), Delicatessen, Salatei HaBayit, Yacnanuf, Picnic between the dates September 1, 2016 to September 18, 2016.
