Thursday: Strike Planned In Israel’s Government Hospitals


1The Histadrut national labor federation has announced that a strike will be launched in the nation’s government-run hospitals beginning on Thursday morning 7 Menachem Av in the morning.

Government-run hospitals include Wolfson (Holon), Tel Hashomer (Tel Aviv), Rambam (Haifa), Barzilai (Tel Aviv), Assaf HaRofeh (Rishon L’Tzion), Hillel Yafeh (Hadera), Bnei Tzion (Haifa), Poriah (Tiveria), and Ziff (Tzfat).

The strike will impact outpatient clinics, elective surgeries and many other services. Strike leaders explain the strike is protest planned changes in work and operational conditions.

  1. Great! Everytime the doctors in Israel went on strike the death rate went down 30%.
    They do BTW continue emergency procedures like setting broken bones and the like. They just stop elective treatments which kill more people then they heal.
    The last serious strike was in year 2000 that lasted four months and according to the Chevra Kadisha there were a third fewer deaths during that period of time.
