Lakewood Police Captain Gregory Meyer has been appointed as the new Chief of the Lakewood Police Department, TLS is reporting.
Meyer, on the force for approximately 30 years, will be taking over Police Chief Rob Lawson, who has just reached the mandatory retirement age of 65.
Captain Meyer, who also has two children and a brother on the Lakewood Police force, recently took the Chief’s test, scoring first place.
Being that the current Chief only retires August 1, 2016, Meyer’s appointment has been announced today during a ceremony at Town Hall, but his swearing in will only take place on August 1, when the position can take effect.
