Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz on Monday afternoon 5 Tammuz met with Moshe Gafne, Minister Aryeh Deri and Minister Yaakov Litzman, permitting the chareidi representatives to express their growing concerns over increasing efforts to operate public buses on Shabbos in cities and local municipalities.

During the meeting Katz told them that the State of Israel remains committed to the religious status quo vis-à-vis buses running on Shabbos and there are no plans to create a new reality.

At the conclusion of the meeting Deri reiterated their commitment to fight “with all our might” against any and all efforts to change the status quo regarding buses on Shabbos.
