This year, 2016, marks the 40th anniversary of the IDF rescue operation in Entebbe known as Operation Yonatan. In fact, the operation was first called Operation Thunderbolt but later changed to honor the fallen IDF Sayeret Matkal commander Lt.-Colonel Yonatan Netanyahu HY”D.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is in the midst of an historical visit to African nations including Uganda, and on Monday July 4th, he was among those who participated in an official memorial, on the site, forty years after the hostages were rescued.
