After the High Court of Justice ruled on Tuesday, 15 Sivan not to freeze the appointment of Rami Sadan, Shas MK Yigal Guetta is not letting it go. Shas had agreed to abide by a High Court ruling pertaining to the appointment of Sadan as Chairman of Channel 10 News. Racist anti-Sephardi remarks attributed to Sadan led to the party demanding the cancelation of the appointment but party leader Deri ultimately agreed to abide by the court’s ruling in the matter. Sadan insists he never made the ethnic slurs attributed to him.
However, Guetta lashed out harshly against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday, 16 Sivan, expressing outrage over Sadan’s appointment. Guetta launched a scathing attack via Facebook, writing “Mr. Netanyahu, you can crush some of the people all of the time but you cannot trample and belittle everyone all of the time. While he abhor this path, we certainly we will not act this way as a responsible loyal party such as Shas.
“This time you took it one step too far for this is not Rami Sadan and not about arranging jobs for the public broadcast corporation, but it is the total backing you give to the excessive demands to the Reform to cover the murky relationship skillfully built with the US government. [We are dealing with] it’s Maran’s kovod, the glory of the generation, Rav Ovadia ZT”L.
“How is it your hands did not tremble as you appointed Ran Baratz who spoke of Maran in such a way. A total disgrace. All of your beautiful words regarding your regard for Maran are a pack of lies and trickery of the mouth which are consistent with your unholy actions.
“It appears when Maran said to you ‘what blindness people follow’ it appears he wished to teach you that you do not know the direction you are heading. Where do you want to go? Trampling the kovod of Maran and millions of people who accompanied him to his final rest will not forgive you. Whatever you do you will not succeed. Today the countdown timer began. Wake up!”
Baratz in the coming days will become a senior advisor to PM Netanyahu after apologizing for remarks made against President Reuven Rivlin and US President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry in 2015 for his controversial Facebook postings against them during his tenure as a chief media advisor to the PM. He will be in charge of the PM public diplomacy strategy.
Baratz is a resident of Kfar Adumim. He has a doctorate in philosophy from Hebrew University. He served in the IDF in air force intelligence.
