President Barack Obama says anti-Muslim rhetoric from presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is “not the America we want.”
Obama is arguing that treating Muslim-Americans differently won’t make the U.S. safer. He says it will make the country less safe by fueling the notion among followers of the Islamic State group that the West hates Muslims.
Obama lashed out a day after presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump doubled down on his proposal to temporarily ban foreign Muslims from entering the U.S.
Obama says the U.S. was founded on freedom of religion and that there are no religious tests in America.
He says such talk makes Muslim-Americans feel like their government is betraying them.
Obama commented after meeting with his national security advisers on the threat posed by IS. He also was briefed on the investigation into the Orlando nightclub shooting.

What about all the anti-German and anti-Japanese rhetoric from the Democrats in the first half of the 1940s (n.b. these are now among out closest allies)?
What about all the anti-Southerners rhetoric during the first half of the 1860s (even though it turned out most southerners supported the United States against the rebels)?
Obama never met a terrorist he could not support. He has brought a complete traitor into the White House, and it will be a great simcha for all to see him fade into oblivion. If we are sentenced to a Hillary, we will just get more of the same calamity we have had for the past two terms. When we see the “Muslim Americans” protest the carnage that Islam is wreaking upon the world, and absolutely and reliably stop any form of support, we might begin to believe these people who glorify dishonesty and terror (I include Obama). Until then, Trump is right, if “politically incorrect”. Islam should be banned, and all supporters of it should be either deported, or locked up. This will incense liberals like some who read this site. But I promise I will not feel guilty about my opinion.
Mr. Obama, as long as these Muslims want us dead, an America where they are called out for what they are is exactly what we do want!
