Police announced on Monday, 7 Sivan, that a suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of expressing his support for terror organizations on social media platforms.
Police from the Jerusalem District on 29 Iyar arrested the suspect, an Arab male in his 20s, a resident of the eastern capital. He is suspected of using social media over the past 18 months to praise and applaud terrorists and calls on others to follow his lead. He also calls for an intifada to liberate Jerusalem.
A clandestine investigation into the suspect’s activities took place during recent months. After police gathered sufficient information, the arrest was made in the Shuafat refugee camp. Police add the photos posted on Facebook by the suspect received over a quarter of a million responses.
The suspect has been arraigned and his remand was extended in line with a request from the prosecution.
