New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and the City Council are in agreement on an $82.1 billion budget for fiscal year 2017.
De Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito sealed the deal Wednesday with the traditional budget handshake at City Hall.
By law, the new budget must be in place by July 1, and Wednesday’s agreement was the earliest since 2001.
Negotiations had few sticking points and were settled with little of the public back-and-forth that often marks budget talks. The deal now goes to the full City Council for a vote.
The budget contains no new taxes or layoffs, and puts away more than $5 billion in reserves.
It also marks hundreds of millions of dollars for programs for jails, the homeless, immigrants and unemployed youth.

Imagine how much lower it would be without handouts.
“Imagine how much lower it would be without handouts.”
Yes, the handouts upon which the frum community depends on for its very existence.
#1 is right, without handout our taxes would be 15% max. #2 tell them to get a job like the rest of us.
