Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich Arrives at Terror Attack Scene In Tel Aviv

ta06Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich arrived at the scene of the fatal shooting attack, Tel Aviv’s Sarona Market complex. Three persons have been murdered by terrorist gunfire in the attack. A number of others are wounded, some fighting for their lives.

Tel Aviv Police Chief Chico Edri in his statement to the media from the scene:

This was a serious terror attack involving two terrorists who fired in all directions. To our sorrow nine persons were wounded. One terrorist was neutralized and the second wounded.

There was no intelligence warning ahead of time of an attack planned for Tel Aviv. We do not believe there is another terrorist at large at this time. People are urged to resume their regular routine. This is what we know with certainty at this time, nothing else. Schools will open tomorrow as regular and if there is anything else to announce, the public will be informed.

Channel 10 News: Reports the two terrorists were dressed as chareidim appears to be false. It was reported that wore long black coats and fedoras.

Channel 2 TV News: Both terrorists are from Dura, in the Hebron district.

Update from Ichilov Hospital:

10:46PM IL: Chief of Emergency Medicine Prof. Pini Halprin reports a total of ten victims arrived in the hospital. Two were in critical condition and died a short time later. (Appears the 10th ‘victim’ is a terrorist)

At present four victims and a terrorist remain in serious condition, all being treated, some in surgery. All five remain in “life-threatening condition”.

Two other victims are in lighter condition.

Shlomi Hagigi – Director of the Sarona Market:

The actual shooting was outside, not inside the complex. I commend the security personnel who prevented the terrorists from entering the shopping complex. Had the terrorists entered, the outcome would have been far more disastrous. The security personnel placed the lives of visitors to the complex before their own. The market is busy and safe, with about 18,000 to 20,000 people visiting on a regular weekday.
