As he acclimates to his new responsibilities, newly-appointed Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman this week visited Israel’s northern border, accompanied by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gadi Eizenkott, Northern District Commander Major-General Aviv Kochavi and other senior division commanders.
Lieberman was briefed by the senior military officials, commenting he has a feeling of assurance after seeing the level of preparedness first hand. He sent a message to Israel’s neighbors, that Israel seeks “calm” but quickly added a warning, ‘I do not recommend that anyone test us”.
The senior minister upon conclusion of the visit commented he is confident the area is in good hands and the IDF is doing an exemplary job along the country’s northern border.
