Eli Adler, 54, is a resident of Elad and he works to reach out to chareidi youths whom have abandoned the beis medrash. He seeks to persuade them to consider entering one of the chareidi programs in the IDF and to begin weighing joining the work force towards getting a life other than hanging around. Adler serves as the director of the dropouts’ program for IDF Shachar program, working tirelessly to scoop up the youths who are in limbo – between beis medrash but not joining mainstream society.
Speaking with Walla News, Adler explains that his efforts are not applauded by all, and in fact, extremist chareidi elements as he describes them regularly threaten him and his family. His wife confirms that in the past two years she and the family have been targeted by those threatening them, also referring to the “extremists” in the chareidi camp.
While Adler explains he is not afraid, he questions why nothing is being done in response to the constant threats against him and his family.
