B’chasdei Hashem, terror attacks targeting shuls, mosques, railways, and tax offices in France have been prevented. The attacks were to have taken place during Euro 2016 games, the international soccer competition. Ukrainian State Security (SBU) agents arrested French national Gregoire M, 25, on the border between Ukraine and Poland.
According to media reports, the suspect was found with a large arsenal which included five Kalashnikov semi-automatic rifles and two anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades. Police also reportedly found in his car 5,000 bullets, 100 detonators and 125kg of TNT, as well as balaclavas and other weapons. SBU officials add the suspect told authorities he was “opposed to his nation’s policy, the mass immigration of Muslims and the spread of Islam and globalization”. French police indicated they have not established a link between the suspect and known terrorist organizations. He has been under surveillance since December 2015.
The SBU statement added it has succeeded in preventing 15 terror attacks that were planned in France before and during the European soccer championship games.
