HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita to the surprise of many told an Avreich from the USA who expressed a desire to live in Eretz Yisrael to go to Kiryat Sanz, explaining “There is Torah there”.
The avreich from the United States visited Rav Chaim during the afternoon hours, explaining he wishes to relocate to Eretz Yisrael. He asked Rav Kanievsky where he thinks he should settle down in Israel, “Jerusalem or Bnei Brak”, adding “I only have sufficient money for Netanya”.
Rav Kanievsky responded “If this is next to Kiryat Sanz, it is doable for there is Torah there”.

If he said Netanaya and not Yerushaleim or Bnei Brak, so Rav chaim said Sanz….
There is torah and kedushah anywhere in EY. Its up to the individual to find it. Sort of bizarre to think that there are only 2 or 3 cities where one can make aliyah and find a receptive environment.
Why is this news? The guy said he can’t afford to live elsewhere and he got a practical response!
Rav Kanievsky mentioned Kiryat Sanz only because it is relevant to the questioners location I.e. netanya. The point of the Rav is that one can live anywhere, not just bnei brak or Jerusalem, as long as there is Torah in the place they live. There are hundreds of locations in Israel that fit that description, in addition to kiryat sanz
The Gerrer Rebbe Shlita sends families with limited funds to Arad. Apartments are available for very cheap rent. This avreich wants a Porsche but only has money for a used Chevy. Wake up people.
