The Same Mohel Did Not Perform The Brissim On The Infants Who Contracted Herpes

1Last week, YWN-ISRAEL reported on two infants who contracted herpes in proximity to their bris, leading officials at Schneider Children’s Hospital believing their illness may be connected to the mohel, however it has not been proven.

YWN-ISRAEL has since learned the children did not have the same mohel. In one case, the identity of the mohel remains a mystery as no one seems to know who it was. In the other case the mohel was the father of the child who to the best of his knowledge does not have herpes.

In either case, it is yet to be proven conclusively that the boys contracted herpes as a result of their bris milah. B’chasdei Hashem they have both been treated and released from the hospital in good condition, and they will continue taking medication until they are six months old.

  1. Azoy…one baby had milah through some nes m’shamayim without the assistance of a mohel….the other baby somehow had milah from the father but he denies having herpes. Perhaps once and for all the rabbunim will reconsider their position on MBP and put an end to this issue once and for all.

  2. Aha, where are all the ketanei emuna in yiddisher minhagim now.

According to some of the comments of the previous article regarding these 2 babies, they made it clear that the Moel was the problem, particularly with the moels MBP.

How they know MBP was done and that was the cause is beyond me.

It seems that their screams doesn’t come from concern for Yidden, it comes from a place of Tumah, rachmona litzlon.

  3. Just like Bloomingodiotberg Rosha wanted to blame the herpes on the briss and he couldn’t, these r’shyoim couldn’t either.

  4. Talk about total irresponsible reporting in the media! How can it be that a crucial component to the main aspect of a story is left for assumption until days later?! That info should have readily been available the same day! Furthermore, how in the world can it be that “the identity of the mohel remains a mystery”? Who in the world does not know who had done their child’s bris?!

This article is liken to news articles printed of Israel’s “massacre of hundreds of Palestinians” before verifying the facts and then sheepishly admitting later that the facts may be “slightly” different than what was previously believed.

    This article is really disturbing.

  5. So-called “Gadolhadorah”: The Rabbonim have the unusual tendency to follow Halachah and established Minhag. Hence, they insist on metzitzah b’peh. 4,000 or so years of metzitzah b’peh mean something.
