According to a Shin Bet report on recent terrorist attacks to the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee, 73% of all the terrorists who carried out stabbing attacks during the wave of terror that began Erev Rosh Hashanah 5776 possess Israeli ID cards. In the briefing to the high-level security Knesset committee on Wednesday, 24 Iyar, the Shin Bet recommends modifying the current law to make it more difficult for PA (Palestinian Authority) residents to marry Israeli Arabs to obtain an identity card.
The Shin Bet data adds that 104 people who were involved in terror attacks from 2001 to 2016 had Israeli residency under the so-called unification law. Seventeen of them obtained their status by marrying an Israeli and eighty-seven were related to people who received the status.
Steps are being taken by the Interior Ministry to delay the reunification process to the objections of the left-wing.
