A beautiful Sefer Torah, dedicated by talmidim and friends of Rabbi Mosheh Twersky, ztvk”l, will be brought to its new home at Yeshivas Toras Moshe in Yerushalayim on Wednesday, 2 Sivan, June 8. Rabbi Twersky, a revered and beloved rebbi in the Yeshiva, was one of the kedoshim murdered in the Har Nof shul massacre in November of 2014. Just two weeks after Rabbi Twersky’s petirah, the Rosh Yeshiva of Toras Moshe, Rabbi Moshe Meiselman, announced the kesivah of a Sefer Torah l’ilui nishmas Rabbi Twersky at a somber Yeshiva Dinner gathering in New York. The project quickly gained momentum as talmidim and others from around the world dedicated chumashim, parshiyos, and osiyos. A memorable Siyum Sefer Torah was held in New York last fall, as the final osiyos of the Torah were completed amid emotional singing and dancing. Now the Sefer Torah will complete the final portion of its journey, as it is joyously escorted into the Yeshiva’s Beis Medrash, days before Klal Yisroel celebrates Kabbolas HaTorah.
Tefiras Hayerios of the Sefer Torah, the final sewing of the Torah’s klaf, will be held at the Twersky home in Har Nof. A procession through the streets of Yerushalayim will begin at the entrance of Sanhedria Murchevet and continue until Yeshivas Toras Moshe (Sanhedria Murchevet 112). Music and dancing at the Yeshiva will accompany the Sefer Torah into the Aron Kodesh. A seudas mitzvah in Ulamei Tamir (Kvish Ramot Yerushalayim) will follow.
This simcha shel mitzvah will truly be an aliyah to Rav Twersky’s neshama, and will bring nechama to his mishpacha and talmidim.
