It did not take long for Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman to announce his support for the so-called two state solution, the establishment of the State of Palestine alongside Israel. Shortly following his taking the oath of office, Lieberman made his policy announcement in a joint media event with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

The Prime Minister spoke first and Lieberman expressed his agreement “with every single word” to the surprise of many. He also praised the initiative of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi calling his peace-making efforts “very positive”.
