Speaking with Kol Berama Radio on Tuesday morning 16 Iyar, just two days before Lag B’Omer, MK Yair Lapid boasted it was he who allocated the funding to refurbish the tziyun of the Rashi during his tenure as Finance Minister in the previous administration.

Lapid also told host Noam Zeigman that he feels every Jewish child must know what the Gemara is and since his children do not learn it in schools, he introduced them to Gemara on his own.

He added that if the chareidi MKs are good, he views them as a potential coalition partner in the future, when he establishes the coalition [as Prime Minister]. He stated that at present, there is only one chareidi MK with whom he does not have a relationship, Minister of Health Yaakov Litzman, who Lapid stated will not speak to him.

Regarding the current political realities, Lapid added it is not important for him to become the opposition leader but it is important to him to represent the nation and it is less significant what title will appear under his name while doing so. Lapid also explained PM Netanyahu in the past offered him to enter the coalition, to which he responded “no thank you”.
