The BINA Disability and Rehabilitation Expo on Tuesday, May 24th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. will be the largest event of its kind in the heart of our community. This unique event will be conveniently held at the Palace Hall at 780 McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn. A broad range of vendors have already registered, with new companies signing on every day, representing a wide spectrum of the world of disabilities and the rehabilitation system.
Companies specializing in medical transports, home modifications and accessibility, vehicle accessibility and driver education for the disabled will be manning booths, with equipment and audio-visual presentations on display. The non-profit sector will also be represented including an organization that sends individuals to learn with homebound individuals, a group that provides sports and outdoor opportunities for the disabled and an association for individuals with hydrocephalus.
Therapists providing specialized therapy such as MEDEK, neuro-IFRAH, music therapy and the coordinator of an aphasia group, will also be on hand to speak to participants on a one-to-one basis. A company from Florida that practices advanced biofeedback techniques, as well as a technology group from Israel providing cutting-edge therapeutic computer programs, are flying in especially to participate in the Expo. Specialists from the Brain and Spine Center of a leading hospital will be available to describe their neurological, neurosurgical and neuropsychological services including post-concussion and brain injury.
Inpatient facilities representing acute, sub-acute and post-acute, both adult and pediatric, as well as LTAC, vent and on-site dialysis units, will be exhibiting at the Expo, along with leading outpatient therapists and centers, including home based therapy providers.
Home care agencies, companies that provide physician house-calls and bloodwork at home, Medicaid enrollment specialists, attorneys, and agencies providing a range of services to the disabled population including the developmentally disabled will be available to answer questions about their services and explain the intricacies of their respective specialty areas. Government agencies representing safety, emergency preparedness and more will be manning tables at the event.
A special feature of the Expo will be the Stroke and Brain Injury Research and Clinical Trials section, where researchers and scientists from leading facilities and hospitals will share information on current research projects and clinical trials and answer questions from attendees. This section has proven to be of great interest at past Expos, with many people lining up for the rare opportunity to speak directly with the individuals who are at the vanguard cutting advances in their fields.
