Officials in the Mishkenos Hatorah Yeshiva responded to statements made against the yeshiva by Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita in his motzei Shabbos shiur. Rav Yosef called the yeshiva “fools” for prohibiting bringing Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef’s ZT”L seforim into the yeshiva.

Yeshiva officials explain that the picture painted by Rav Yosef is simply inaccurate. They explain one will find Yabia Omer in the yeshiva and talmidim study the late gadol hador’s seforim. The yeshiva explained it wishes to correct the error, clarifying that while Rav Ovadia’s seforim are on the shelves of the beis medrash, Yalkut Yosef, which is written by Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, is not.

The explanation given is the yeshiva feels talmidim should learn Shulchan Aruch and Mishnah Brura and not use ‘short cuts’ which would include seforim such as Yalkut Yosef. However, yeshiva officials highlight to say that Rav Ovadia’s seforim are banned is simply untrue.
