Due to severe weather conditions, Israel’s Fire Commissioner has banned the lighting of any flame outdoors as the oppressive heat-wave that has sent temperatures soaring continues. As a result, temperatures in many major cities have climbed over 100F and this is expected to continue today, Monday, 8 Iyar.
The hot and dry weather has resulted in prime condition for a fire to spread and therefore the order has been given banning campfires or any other type of flame outdoors between 09:00-19:00. Firemen around the country on Sunday fought thousands of fires as the slightest incident spreads quickly.
Fire department officials urge the public to be extra careful during the heat-wave, pointing out vigilance and fire safety is required year-round, particularly during the summer months.
