Yolish Krauss was sentenced to seven months in prison by the Jerusalem Magistrate Court for operating an illegal slaughterhouse. He was also fined NIS 50,000. His partner was also convicted as the court also weighed income tax offenses pertaining to an estimated income of NIS 1.5 million. Krauss was also found guilty of not getting an official Israeli identify card as required by law.
Krauss, the so-called Operations Officer of Eida Chareidis is a prominent figure in the battle against the Zionist State of Israel and its institutions.
The court explained the law-breaking activities were conducted during a period of three-to-four years during which the slaughterhouse operated in Meah Shearim. Despite the fact Israel Tax Authority and other agencies sent him letters, warnings and bills, they were all ignored by Krauss and partner Marad Tavah. The court added that Tavah “closed his eyes” and relied on whatever Krauss told him and he was quite aware they were not paying income tax as required by law.
Prosecutor Daphne Abramowitz said “Yoel Krauss worked cleverly as he hid the existence of the business and the identity of his partner and does not even have an identity card. This prevented tax officials from checking the operation. The actions of Krauss and Tavah are a clear example of the difficulties encountered by tax authorities in general, especially in closed communities like Meah Shearim and East Jerusalem”.
