A prison parole board recently rejected a request for early release on good behavior from former President Moshe Katsav. Mr. Katsav has served 4.5 years of his seven-year term and was seeking to wipe one-third for the sentence for good behavior as is customarily done.
As a result of the parole board’s decision, what remains is a presidential pardon, which President Reuven Rivlin is currently weighing, Ynet reports. The report adds that Mr. Katsav’s family and attorney report his mental state has deteriorated considerably since the parole board turned down his early release request.
Mr. Katsav is serving a sentence after being convicted of assaults against women.
