NYPD Officers shot a man after he allegedly opened fire on them Tuesday afternoon in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn, Breaking911.com reports. The scene was in the 200 block of Nassau Street.
According to the NYPD, two men were stopped by cops during an arrest warrant investigation when one of the suspects opened fire.
Officers returned fire and the gunman fled.
He was located a short time later with a gunshot wound to the hand and taken into custody.
No Officers were struck during the firefight but a patrol car was damaged.
The second suspect was arrested at the scene on a minor warrant.
The gunman was not wanted on any warrant, police said in a news conference.
It was unclear what provoked the shooter to open fire. His condition was not known.
