Ya’alon: Discovering Tunnels From Gaza Is A Top Priority For Israel

1Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon on Monday, 10 Nissan, stated that Israel does not seek another conflict with Hamas but if the latter compels Israel to act, Gaza residents will suffer a powerful blow.

Ya’alon made his comments after Israel revealed that last week, it discovered a major Hamas tunnel that led from Gaza into Israel. He explained during Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014 that Israel developed technology to address Hamas’ tunnels.

He explained Israel will not fool itself into believing that Hamas has stopped its efforts to rebuild its tunnels. He stated that for Israel, discovering these tunnels remains a high priority.

PM Netanyahu also commented to the media following the announcement of the discovery of the tunnel. Mr. Netanyahu stated, “In recent days, the State of Israel has achieved a global breakthrough in the ability to locate tunnels. I congratulate the IDF Chief of Staff, the IDF, the ISA and the intelligence and technology personnel on this unique breakthrough. The government is investing considerable capital in countering the tunnel threat. This is an ongoing effort that will not end overnight. We are investing in this and will continue to do so with determination.

Israel will respond strongly to any attempt to attack its soldiers and civilians. I am certain that Hamas understands this very well. I would like to tell the residents of the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip: The IDF is working around the clock to ensure your security and daily routine.”

  1. Hey, Ya’alon , you moron, have you ever consider stopping cement shipments to Gaza? May be this will prevent Hamas from building new tunnels? During and after 2014 Israel-Hamas war when more than 70 Jewish soldiers died needlessly, the State of Israel was supplying 100,000 tons of cement to Gaza on the weekly basis.

  2. Chamas can build tunnels under the most debilitating environment, yet here in the USA we cant even build a tunnel from NJ to Manhattan using the latest and greatest tools. (O wait they did a survey which cost 4 billion dollars, and then backed out).

    Unions vs Hamas hmm!!!

    Go figure!!!

  3. Y2r, the difference between the gaza tunnel and a Hudson River tunnel, is the cost of human lives. While in gaza, they have g-d knows how many dead children buried under the tunnels they build, try to imagine if the price tag for the Hudson tunnel would 4.75 billon and 864 people. Wouldn’t go down to well would it.
