Israel Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich sold the department’s chametz through the department’s temporary Chief Rabbi Moshe Gafne. The nusach used to sell the chametz is as follows:

” אני הח”מ רנ”צ רוני אלשיך מפכ”ל משטרת ישראל האחראי מטעם ממשלת ישראל על משטרת ישראל ורכושה, נותן בזה ייפוי כוח בעל תוקף משפטי למ”מ הרב הראשי הרב משה גפני למכור לגוי, את כל החמץ ותערובתו וכן מוצרים שיש בהם חשש חמץ של משטרת ישראל בכל מקום שהוא מצוי” .

It is added that the department also takes its dogs and horses into consideration, and while it can change the diet for the dogs, doing so for the mounted units is more complicated, due to health concerns of the police horses. Hence, the contract also includes the animals and their food. The department’s facilities will be kashered for Pesach on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
