Donald Trump’s neglect of delegate fights is bringing him new woes.
That’s because supporters of his Republican presidential campaign are those least likely to be involved in arcane political gatherings that dole out delegates. They need extra help from political professionals to counter Ted Cruz’s group of veteran activists.
That was on display in Colorado after Cruz swept the recent state convention. The few Trump supporters who made it that far said they felt abandoned by the Trump campaign.
Cruz’s operation was organized largely by Colorado volunteers. Many backers of the Texas senator were elected officials or activists who well understand the complex Colorado process.
Coming party gatherings in Wyoming, Minnesota and Arkansas risk setting back Trump even more in the delegate hunt unless he improves his organizing.
