Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon was presented with a query in Knesset, why the Defense Ministry feels Ichud (United) Hatzalah does not meet the criteria to be recognized as an emergency organization in time of emergency. MK Uri Maklev is calling on Ya’alon to explain what the criteria are that the organization does not meet.
The Knesset two months ago discussed why Ichud Hatzalah is not recognized as an official emergency agency, pointing out the critical role the EMS organization has played in recent months, responding to hundreds of terror attacks. At the time, Maklev asked by the Defense Ministry does not recognize the organization and DM Ya’alon explained it does not meet criteria. Maklev explains the organization, which today numbers over 3,000 nationwide volunteers, appears to meet the criteria according to everyone else and now wants the Defense Minister to explain his response, to detail the criteria that Ichud Hatzalah fails to meet.
