A published report says Donald Trump would force Mexico to pay for a border wall, if elected president, by cutting off billions of dollars in remittances by immigrants living in the U.S.
The report, in Tuesday’s Washington Post, cites a two-page memo sent by the Republican presidential front-runner outlining how he would force Mexico to pay for the 1,000-mile wall.
In his proposal, Trump is reportedly threatening to change a rule under the Patriot Act anti-terrorism law to cut off money transfers sent to Mexico. Trump added that he would withdraw the treat if Mexico makes “a one-time payment of $5 to $10 billion” to finance the wall, the Washington Post reported.
Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto has said his country will not pay for any such wall.

If Trump was in the 11th grade in high school, I’d give him high marks for thinking of such wonderful, pie-in-the-sky, ideas. By the time he finished college level, I’d expect him to realize and have a better understanding of how the American gov’t makes laws. For example, he would be expected to understand that the President cannot willy-nilly “use” a law to achieve an end. He would be expected to understand that there would be legal challenges in court’s the outcome of which the President cannot control. He would be expected to realize that there are limits to how America treats its allies (and even it’s enemies). I’d probably give him a C. But, if by the time be runs for President be still has so weak a grasp of the reality of governing the country, I’d fail him. He is ignorant of the issues. In his defense, how can he not be? As a builder, he has never had to give them serious study. This whole discussion, of course, ignores his boorishness and lack of civility. It is not political incorrectness to viciously and personally attack someone who disagrees with you. It is a severe lack of common decency.
Threats are not treats.
