NYPD Practicing How To Respond To Brussels-Style Attack

nypdaThe New York Police Department practiced how officials and officers would respond to a Brussels-style attack.

The exercise took place Monday in a conference room. It involved four locations around the city and included a suicide bomber, shooter and other attacks. Officers discussed how they would deploy resources to best take down the suspects, stop the danger and render aid.

NYPD Chief of Department James O’Neill says it is one of several such exercises the department has undergone to ensure it’s prepared.

Attacks at the airport and public transport system in Brussels last week killed 35 people and wounded more than 300 others. In November, a series of coordinated attacks at restaurants and a music venue in Paris left 129 dead and 352 wounded across the city and its suburbs.
