After months of a stalemate between Israel and Brazil over the appointment of Danny Dayan as Israel’s next ambassador to that country, Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has appointed Dayan the next Consul General in New York.
Brazil has remained adamant in its refusal to accept Dayan due to his ties to the settlements, as he was a former senior official in the Yesha Council.
Despite Israel’s insistence he is the candidate selected, Brazil would not accept his credentials.
It is now announced that Israel has backed down and Dayan will become the next Israel Consul General to NY, replacing Ido Aaroni, who is completing his term.
